Advocacy West Lancs principal operating philosophy is that West Lancashire will be a better place for its citizens if individuals are supported by their peers to actively seek services appropriate to their life situation, beliefs, and needs.
Advocacy is about people whose rights are particularly vulnerable, speaking up for, or acting for possibly with the support of another concerned person or advocate. Advocates do not do things for people; they work alongside them in an equal partnership. The partnership developed is built on equality and trust. Through the advocacy process, people become empowered, and often able to speak out for themselves with a little moral support.

• It is a non-profit organisation, which exists to provide advocacy partnerships within West Lancashire.
• Advocacy West Lancs is one of nine known advocacy operations in Lancashire County. It is the only independent advocacy organisation in West Lancashire.
Advocacy West Lancs was established in 1994 to provide a service of representation and support for any member of the community who experiences difficulties in getting their message across when communicating with health care, social services or other statutory services.
